The Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen (UCPH), invites excellent candidates for a time-limited assistant professorship in developmental cognitive neuroscience.
The position is available from 1st August 2023 until 31st May 2026.
Introduction
The post is associated with the Centre for Early Childhood Cognition (https://psychology.ku.dk/ecc-en/) and with a grant-funded project on caregiver-infant synchrony and development of self-representation. The project involves both behavioral testing (including eye-tracking and pupillometry) and neuroimaging (EEG and fNIRS).
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities of the post include contributing to the scholarship and intellectual life of the University by conducting world-class research and teaching. The successful candidate will lead one part of the project and be responsible for developing new tasks and measures of synchrony and parent-child interaction, as well as outcome measures of self-representation. The position also has a 20% teaching requirement.

The successful candidate will have an excellent track record in designing and implementing studies of early social cognition and a demonstrable interest in the development of self-representation. Experience with both behavioural and neuroimaging methods and data is essential, as is prior experience working with infants and young children. A successful candidate has strong interpersonal skills as well as an aptitude for working collaboratively with colleagues in planning and delivering teaching, in research projects and in the discharge of administrative duties. Some teaching experience in developmental psychology or a related subject is also expected.

Terms of Employment
- Employment with the Faculty of Social Sciences and progression within employment will be determined only by personal merit. We do this by applying academic criteria of the University of Copenhagen which are related to the duties and conditions of each particular post and the needs of the Department concerned.
- As this is an assistant professor position, and therefore we strongly encourage the appointed assistant professor to acquire the proficiency in Danish required to teach and interact with colleagues in that language in 2-4 years. - Terms of appointment and salary is in accordance with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikerne).
- The salary range starts at DKK 36,200 (EURO 4,800) per month + a 17.1 % contribution to the pension scheme. It is possible to negotiate salary supplements on an annual basis.
The Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) have further agreed on a protocol that makes it possible for international researchers employed by the University to achieve a pension exemption, whereby the pension contribution will be paid out as salary.
