The ITU seeks candidates for three part-time lecturer positions to teach in the Global Business Informatics BSc programme and the Digital Innovation Management MSc programme during the spring 2020. A requirement for all positions is that the candidate as a minimum holds a kandidat-/MSc-degree within a relevant field.

The first part-time lecturer is expected to contribute to teaching the course Big Data Processes, which is part of the Big Data specialization which starts in the 2nd semester (January to June 2020) of the Digital Innovation & Management programme. Big Data Processes is a 7.5 ECTS course, taught in English. The course involves hands-on engagement with all of the stages of a typical big data project. This includes the collection and generation of data, as well as its visualization and analysis for critical insights.

The part-time lecturer will help prepare teaching materials (lecture slides, notes, assignment templates), teach three to four sessions, organize the corresponding exercise sessions, and assist in the examination of students corresponding to approximately 25% of the full course. The teaching content will include applied statistics at the introductory level as the course itself does not assume prior experience or knowledge in statistics on the part of the students. Topics to be covered include linear regression, multi-variate analysis, and clustering. The teaching will be carried out in a team with ITU researchers and teaching assistants.

The ideal candidate should document:

  • Competence in R or Python.
  • Teaching experience related to statistics, machine learning, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with the Jupyter Notebook environment is preferred.
The part-time lecturer position will begin on January 1, 2020, and run for a period of 3 years. The norm is 49.5 hours for the course in question. Conducting the examination results in extra hours depending on the amount of students examined. There is a possibility for more teaching hours later during the contract period.

The second part-time lecturer is expected to teach the summer university course Organisational Change in the Digital Innovation Management programme. The course will be taught across an intensive three-four week period in July (weeks 28, 29, 30, 31). Organisational Change is a 7.5 ECTS course taught in English. The course introduces students to different theories of organisational change, the management of change, as well as the role of technology in such processes. The course prepares students to engage critically with ideas of change management, focusing on how and why changes take place, and the role of digital technologies in these processes.

The part-time lecturer will prepare teaching materials, manage the course, teach the planned sessions, supervise students in preparation for the exam, and examine students.

The ideal candidate should document:

  • Familiarity with scientific literature on organisational change and change management
  • Previous teaching experience in organisational theory and/or (critical) management studies
  • Additional experience in course design and development of teaching materials is preferred.
The part-time lecturer position will begin on June 1, 2020, and run for a period of 3 years. The norm is 198 hours for the course in question with 20 extra hours for the development of the course. Conducting the examination results in extra hours depending on the amount of students examined. There is a possibility for more teaching hours later during the contract period.

The third part-time lecturer is expected to teach the course Data Intelligence in the Global Business Informatics programme. Data Intelligence is a 7.5 ECTS elective course in the programme’s sixth semester, taught in English. The course involves hands-on engagement with all of the stages of data analysis. This includes automation of data collection with Python, retrieval of data sets from online sources, analysis of data with basic statistics and business intelligence tools, and consolidation of analysis validity for real-world problems.

The part-time lecturer will prepare teaching materials, manage the course, teach the planned sessions, supervise students in preparation for the exam, and examine students.

The ideal candidate should document:

  • Competence in Python.
  • Teaching experience related to statistics.
  • Understanding of the scientific reasoning and principles pertaining to validity of such data analysis.
The part-time lecturer position will begin on January 1, 2020, and run for a period of 3 years. The norm is 198 hours for the course in question. Conducting the examination results in extra hours depending on the amount of students examined. There is a possibility for more teaching hours later during the contract period.
