Working as a Student Assistant at Department of Economics

At the Department of Economics (ECON), Copenhagen Business School (CBS), Frederiksberg, Denmark we regard it a central task to explain what motivates decision-makers, how economic institutions are — or should be — designed, and whether the interaction between institutional design and motivation leads to an efficient or optimal outcome from society's point of view. Our research is often related to specific challenges facing different organizations.

We are looking for a student research assistant for an average 10-15 hours per week. The position has a large degree of flexibility, including during exam periods and it is not time-restricted. Expected start date is between 1 and 15 May 2021. During the COVID-19 lockdown you are expected to work from the distance. After the lockdown you are expected to be able to be present at the department on a regular basis. However, this will be defined in more detail together with your supervisor.

Specifics for the positions and your role

You will mainly be attached to a research project on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and their possible spill-overs. Your tasks will include but not be limited to data collection, data cleaning, summarization and management, all under the guidance of the research team. In addition, you will be asked to document the analytical process and organize the data sets and program files. Participation in meetings within the research group and documenting action points from such meetings is also part of the position. Finally, you will be asked to perform econometric analyses using STATA. We apply panel data techniques and, sometimes, quantile regressions.

The Person

You will have a good understanding of statistics and econometrics. You do however not need to be deeply into panel data models and quantile regressions. In addition, you should have some experience with working with large datasets. Some familiarity with STATA and also R is a plus but not necessary. You will have solid academic grades in your current studies; an ability to work independently as well as in teams; good organizational skills; and a willingness/enthusiasm to learn new methods. You are fluent in English.

Salary and pension are determined in regard to HK-overenskomsten and is dependent on previous clerical occupation and level of education.
