Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
University of Copenhagen
We are looking for a highly motivated and independent staff scientist (academic employee) to support our efforts in spatial transcriptomics to commence June 1, 2022 or soon afterwards.
Our goal
Sequencing based spatial transcriptomics and multiplexed fluorescence in situ hybridization for simultaneous imaging of multiple RNA species significantly improves our ability to detect complex cellular interactions during development and disease. We strongly believe that spatial transcriptomics at cellular and subcellular resolution and its combination with immunofluorescent protein analysis and other omics technologies will dramatically enhance our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying human disease, leading to novel treatment options in the clinic. For this reason, BRIC will establish a Core Facility for Spatial Transcriptomics as part of the National Infrastructure CellX, The Danish Single Cell Examination Platform.
Your job
Your tasks will be to establish a dynamic Spatial Transcriptomics Core Facility by facilitating interaction between already existing Core Facilities with partial expertise and setting up and testing new technologies. The aim is to provide to all researchers in Denmark a state-of-the-art spatial transcriptomics service at affordable costs and furthermore to be at the frontier of development in this exciting area. You will closely work together with PIs, other staff scientists, researchers and technicians, and contribute in particular with your expertise in transcriptomics and management skills.
Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic staff scientist with the following competencies and experience:
Essential experience and skills
- You have a PhD in Life sciences or related
- You have documented strong experience in molecular biology and transcriptomics
- You have experience in microscopy-based imaging
- You enjoy interacting with colleagues and working in a team
- You have good management and organization skills
- Good English skills, written and spoken
Desirable experience and skills
- Experience in spatial transcriptomics and/or single cell omics technologies
- Experience in bioinformatic analysis of single cell and spatial omics
