Senior Microbiologist, Microbial Safety, Bagsværd
Novozymes is seeking an experienced microbiologist to perform product safety activities associated with microorganisms in human and animal health, bio-agriculture, household care, food and beverage, and other industries. As a Senior Microbial Safety Scientist based at our global headquarters in Bagsværd, you will work with and support colleagues and projects globally to carry out both strain- and application safety assessments.

You will contribute by ensuring that Novozymes’ microbial products are safe when handled and used by both consumers and workers in internal and external production areas. In close collaboration with safety scientists in Denmark and US, you will evaluate safety of new candidate biological solutions during development and commercial use. An additional part of your role will be to run laboratory assays to quantify microbe levels in air samples collected from customer facilities to assess worker exposure.


In this position you need to have:

  • A PhD or a MSc plus similar experience in the Life Sciences (e.g. biology, biochemistry, molecular biology) with a strong focus on microbiology
  • Many years of work experience within industrial microbiology (research, quality or production)
  • Hands on experience with microbiological laboratory work and knowledge of ISO-methods and validation/verification principles
  • Skilled in using bioinformatics tools for genome analysis for safety purposes
  • Experience with risk assessment principles applied to microorganisms for use in consumer or industrial applications is considered an advantage
  • A team player mindset and outstanding communication skills
  • Danish working permit
