Centre for Alcohol and Drug Research (CRF), Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences, School of Business and Social Sciences at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as professor in the field of social science drug and alcohol research. The professorship is a permanent full-time position starting on 1 august, 2020 or as soon as possible subject to mutual agreement.

Job description
The successful applicant is expected to contribute significantly to the Centre’s research environment and to promote the overall research strategy of the School. You are expected to carry out individual and group-based research of the highest international standard, which contributes to developing our academic field. The applicant should contribute to strengthening CRF’s international research profile and research collaboration within the area. A high publication output in recognized international academic journals is required. It is also required that the successful applicant will apply for external funding at both national and international councils. You are expected to teach and supervise students at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD level. Furthermore, it is required that the successful candidate engage in disseminating drug and alcohol research in a Danish context; to practitioners, policy makers and the general public. Finally, the successful applicant is expected to be present at the Centre on a daily basis and contribute significantly to the Centre’s cross disciplinary research environment, and also to the work environment. The position involves the performing of administrative tasks. A non-Danish speaking candidate is required to acquire the necessary language skills within a short period (maximum 2 years).

Your qualifications
Applicants should have a strong academic background as associate professor or equivalent and must be able to demonstrate to have made significant contributions to developments in the field. Qualifications must be documented by a number of published contributions of international standard as well as the attracting of external grants. In addition, management skills as well as strong teaching qualifications would be desirable.

Applicants with documented research experience with in the field of drug and alcohol research will be preferred. The applicant should have long experience with managing research projects as well as having experiences with working in interdisciplinary research teams. Finally, good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team is important.

Permanent employment as professor at Aarhus BSS requires completion of the supervision course and also the course Blended Learning – Go Online provided by Centre for Teaching and Learning at Aarhus BSS. If you have not completed the courses before commencement of employment, continued employment will be conditional on completion of the courses within a five year period.

Who we are
At the Centre for Alcohol and Drug Research we carry out social-science research in the alcohol and drug field. Our research projects concerns the treatment, prevention, policy and recreational consumption. We conduct research in both legal and illegal drugs. The Centre is interdisciplinary and the employees are based on, among other things, anthropology, psychology, sociology, law and public health. Our task is to establish and conduct research projects, teach, communicate knowledge about alcohol and drug use, and collaboration with national players in the area as well as international research institutions. Qualification requirements
The successful candidate holds a PhD within a social science discipline, such as anthropology, economy, political science, psychology or sociology, and has research experience within social science drug and alcohol research.

Applicants must possess research qualifications and teaching skills corresponding to those obtained after successful completion of a period of employment as an associate professor, but equivalent academic qualifications may also be accepted.
