The position is vacant from November 1, 2019 or as soon as possible hereafter.

The position includes strategic research direction, research leadership, research primarily within palliative care and related fields, authority consultancy, and scientific as well as popular dissemination.

In accordance with REHPA’s profile as a cross scientific centre, the candidate must have an academic background in e.g. health or social sciences or the humanities.

About REHPA

REHPA is a governmentally financed, national, research-based knowledge centre anchored in Region of Southern Denmark (Odense University Hospital) and at the University of Southern Denmark (the Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Clinical Research). REHPA contributes to the development of evidence-based practice within the field of rehabilitation and palliative care to the benefit of patients suffering from life-threatening diseases, including relatives and carers. The work carried out at REHPA is an interaction between research-based mapping, intervention, evaluation, consultancy, and dissemination. Our work employs different interdisciplinary designs and methods in order to explore the impact of rehabilitation and palliative care on health organizations, health professionals, and, crucially, the daily life of the affected person. Read more about us at www.REHPA.dk.

Leadership characteristics and work environment

The position will contribute to the fulfillment of REHPA’s strategy, in particular by developing research-based knowledge within the field of palliative care for people afflicted with life-threatening diseases (i.e. cancer, heart, lung and neurodegenerative diseases including dementia and others). It is important to lead the Palliative Care Research Group in a positive and ambitious way. Moreover, it is important to disseminate new knowledge both internally and externally with support from REHPAs Communication and Networking Group. The candidate will be expected to ensure a close cooperation with REHPAs Rehabilitation Research Group and the Clinical Team responsible for REHPAs clinical courses.

The work environment at REHPA is characterized by high standards as well as an informal tone among colleagues. The organizational culture is open and seeks to promote high involvement and participation from all employees, regardless of seniority and position. The leadership role entails being facilitatory, dynamic and vibrant and it allows interactive processes of knowledge sharing and involvement.

Description of the vacant position
