SDU Robotics invites applications for a professor position within the area of robotics and control. The successful candidate will be integrated in the section SDU Robotics, which is a team of approx. 65 employees, specialized in research and development of robot solutions within the welfare, industrial and medical domain. SDU Robotics is involved in a variety of national and European projects and features a strong network of academic and industrial partners. The aim of the section is to solve challenging research problems derived from real-life challenges by implementing novel robot solutions. We participate in implementing the achieved results in real solutions with end users as Universal Robots, LEGO, Terma, Danfoss and Novo Nordisk.
SDU Robotics is part of the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), and located at the main Campus in Odense, at the core of the Odense Robotics Cluster involving 130+ startups and established companies in robotics.
Job description
The candidate will participate in activities of the section, including current and future research projects and teaching. This involves for example:
- To drive internationally competitive research activities.
- To be able to collaborate with our experts in the further development of our core technologies.
- To participate in the practicalities of actual industrial applications.
- To be deeply involved in our regular coordination and joint evolvement of research and project activities.
- To publish in high level peer-reviewed academic journals as well as engage in other forms and levels of research dissemination.
- To play an active role in securing and managing external funding, including both European and Danish sources.
- To organize, plan and conduct excellent teaching for undergraduate, graduate and PhD courses.
Profile and requirements
We expect the candidate to fulfill most of the following requirements:
- Expert knowledge in control, modeling, and estimation for robotic systems
- Expert knowledge in analysis and controller design for safety-critical dynamical systems
- Experience with methods for easy programming of collaborative robots
- Experience with applications of industrial robots for challenging real tasks
Applicants must hold a PhD degree or equivalent qualifications in the field of robotics and control. A strong track record of research and scientific publications, as well as a demonstrated ability to attract research funding, are required. Leadership and project management experience and excellent communication skills are considered essential. The successful candidate should have a well-documented teaching record in the relevant field(s). Fluency in English is required.
Furthermore, the candidate is able to work well in interdisciplinary teams, has the ability of working independently and has a strong sense of responsibility.

The candidates should have a PhD degree within the mentioned research area. The position is a permanent position.
