Do you have a strong background in microbiology, with hands on experience with DNA for identification? Do you thrive in multidisciplinary collaborations? Then we have an exciting research opportunity. The National Research Centre of the Working Environment (NFA) in Copenhagen invites applications for a postdoc position joining our research projects aimed at characterizing occupational exposures of bacteria and fungi and transmission routes, evaluating risks and suggesting prevention measures.
Hands on research on occupational exposure in green transition occupations The Microbiology group at NFA consists of researchers at all levels; all motivated by and actively working on improving occupational health at Danish workplaces. The group is well established with good laboratory facilities and well-equipped for field measurements.
The postdoctoral position is affiliated to projects about occupational exposures within jobs in green transition areas. The aim of the projects is to characterize and risk evaluate exposures and further gain knowledge on transmission routes during work. You will use methods already implemented in the group for quantification and identification of fungi and bacteria using MALDI-TOF MS, and you will further develop the nanopore sequencing method for characterizing the microbial communities in workers’ exposure. You participate in the collection of samples, in the laboratory analysis, data treatment as well as in the scientific writing.
As part of the research group, we expect you also to contribute to the overall activities, strategies, and scientific development of the group.
Our new colleague Candidates should have a PhD degree in microbiology.

We endeavour to ensure a healthy, dynamic labour market At the Danish National Research Centre for the Working Environment, we research topics of importance to today’s – and tomorrow’s – working environment and occupational safety and health. As a government research institute under the Danish Ministry of Employment, it is our task to monitor and evaluate trends in our working environment and draw attention to new risks. We train new researchers and publish our research results in reputable peer-reviewed journals. We convey research-based knowledge to workplaces, authorities, the two sides of industry and health and safety consultants. This is how we contribute to improving the working environment in Denmark.
