Applicants are invited for a PhD fellowship/scholarship at Graduate School of Technical Sciences, Aarhus University, Denmark, within the Electrical and Computer Engineering programme. The position is available as soon as possible.

Title
PhD on Low-power hardware design for wireless sensor networks

Research area and project description
The project aims to focus on researching and developing a smart wireless sensor network that is both low-power and reliable. This network will leverage neuromorphic computing and analog techniques to bring smartness and low-power consumption into WSNs. Additionally, the network will incorporate energy harvesting to eliminate the need for a battery.

We are looking for highly motivated and independent students willing to take the challenge to do a successful 3-year PhD programme in Aarhus University. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary team of people from different fields, and in close collaboration with industry partners.
The ideal candidate will have the following profile (but not all items are required for a successful application):

Master’s degree (e.g., Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering)

Excellent undergraduate and master degree grades are required.

Background on FPGAs, Embedded systems, and digital design verification.

Experience on hardware implementation and PCB design.

Good understanding of Deep Learning, neural network architectures, and spiking neural network.

Hands-on work with real-world sensor data.

Gain a thorough understanding of low-power design challenges.

Digital ASIC implementation experience is a plus.

Good English verbal and written skills are required.
