Applications are invited for a 3-year bioinformatician position in the field of legume genetics and genomics at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aarhus University, Denmark.

This is a 3–year position from 01.04.2024.
 

Job description

The work will focus on handling, organising and analysing biological data generated by a leading research group in legume genetics and genomics with well-established basic and applied research programs led by  Prof. Stig Uggerhøj Andersen https://mbg.au.dk/forskning/forskningsomraader/plantemolekylaerbiologi/stig-uggerhoej-andersen.

Datasets will include high-throughput sequencing data from genomes, transcriptomes and microbiomes as well as proteomics and metabolomics data. The analyses will include multi-omics data integration, quantitative genetics, statistics, genome assembly and annotation and machine learning.


Your profile


You have documented experience with bioinformatic data analysis of large and complex datasets using custom scripts and high-performance compute clusters. You are proficient in programming in commonly used languages including python, R and mysql.
You are fluent in written and spoken English and are able to communicate clearly with both experimental scientists and other data analysts.
Experience with plant genomics and microbiome data analysis is an advantage.

You will be part of a dynamic environment at the Section for Plant Molecular Biology, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, where work is focused on the study of legumes. The research environment is cross-disciplinary with PIs specialized in bioinformatics, biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology and genetics.
