Centre for Alcohol and Drug Research, Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences at Aarhus University invites applications for a position in social science drug and alcohol research at Associate Professor level. The position is vacant from June 1 2020 or soon after.

The position
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the Centre’s research on Danish drug and alcohol research. You are expected to publish high quality research papers, contribute to the development of the Centre’s international and national research collaboration, and to apply for external funding. In addition, you are expected to contribute to disseminate drug and alcohol research to policy makers and to the general public. You are expected to teach and supervise students. Finally, the successful applicant is expected to be present at the Centre at a daily basis and contribute significantly to the Centre’s cross disciplinary research environment, and also to the work environment. A non-Danish speaking candidate is required to acquire the necessary language skills within a short period (maximum 2 years).

Who we are
At the Centre for Alcohol and Drug Research we carry out social-science research in the alcohol and drug field. Our research projects concerns the treatment, prevention, policy and recreational consumption. We conduct research in both legal and illegal drugs. The Centre is interdisciplinary and the employees are based on, among other things, anthropology, psychology, sociology, law and public health. Our task is to establish and conduct research projects, teach, communicate knowledge about alcohol and drug use, and collaboration with national players in the area as well as international research institutions. The Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences is one of six departments at Aarhus BSS, one of the four faculties at Aarhus University. Aarhus BSS unites the social science and business-related research fields and brings them closer together to reflect the close relationship between society and the business community. Qualification requirements
The successful candidate holds a PhD within a social science discipline, such as anthropology, economy, political science, psychology or sociology, and has research experience within social science drug and alcohol research.

Applicants must possess research qualifications and teaching skills corresponding to those obtained after successful completion of a period of employment as an assistant professor, but equivalent academic qualifications may also be accepted.

Permanent employment as associate professor at Aarhus BSS requires completion of the supervision course and also the course Blended Learning – Go Online provided by Centre for Teaching and Learning at Aarhus BSS. If you have not completed the courses before commencement of employment, continued employment will be conditional on completion of the courses within a five year period.

Terms of employment
The appointment is made in accordance with the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities (in Danish) as well as the circular on the Collective Agreement for Academics Employed by the State (in Danish).
