The Department of Business Development and Technology (BTECH) at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, invites applications for assistant professorship positions in engineering management.

An assistant professorship is a fixed-term three-year position. The starting date is 1 May 2021 or as agreed upon.

An assistant professor’s time is divided evenly between research and teaching activities, and the successful candidate will become part of the EngTech research group.

Job description
BTECH is dedicated to excellence in technology-driven business development as well as core business disciplines and offers study programmes in these fields.

We are looking for eminent candidates who can strengthen our research profile in engineering management within the following fields:

  1. Operations
  2. Supply chain management
  3. Concurrent product and production development, in particular manufacturability and product architectures (mass/individualised customisation)
  4. Industrial and business computing
  5. Quality management
  6. Technology management
We are also open to candidates with alternative profiles within engineering, if the candidate has a profound interest in business development and technology.

A significant part of our work involves business partners, and we often perform applied research. Hence, it is paramount that the candidate conducts research on topics that are relevant to modern companies, many of which are SMEs. Candidates with research activities involving industry will be preferred.

The successful applicant is expected to teach and supervise students at bachelor’s and master’s level. Our study programmes in engineering include an MSc in Technology Based Business Development, a Bachelor of Engineering in Business Development Engineer (BDE) and a Bachelor of Engineering in Global Management and Manufacturing (GMM). Applicants with solid experience within problem-based learning will be preferred.

Qualification requirements
Qualification for an assistant professorship position is a PhD or an equivalent academic qualification in engineering.

Applicants are encouraged to describe how their research is related to industry. The description could include concrete collaborations, impact, dissemination activities, etc.

Non-Danish speakers are required to acquire a reasonable knowledge of the Danish language within three years. The department will grant time off from teaching to attend Danish courses during the first two years of employment.
