The Department of Animal Science, Aarhus University, invites highly qualified applicants for assistant professor in chemical and nutritional properties of protein from green biomass available from 1 august 2019 or soon thereafter. The position
We seek a candidate who has a strong analytical background combined with nutritional insight. The preferred candidate will possess experiences in protein chemistry, amino acids, anti-nutritional compounds and analytical methodologies at the molecular level along with methodologies for biological evaluation of proteins. The candidate will be part of the interdisciplinary centre on Circular Bio Economy at Aarhus University. The main focus will be on a molecular understanding of protein from green biomasses, chemical and nutritional evaluation of the obtained fractions and support in the optimization of processes at the pilot and demonstration plants for obtaining high quality protein from green biomass. The assistant professor is expected to participate in knowledge exchange with society, attract external funding, contribute in teaching at BSc, MSc and PhD levels and participate in post-doctoral training.

The candidate
Qualifications for the assistant professor levels at Aarhus University include minimum 3-4 years’ experience at postdoc level with a relevant research profile and a strong scientific publication record in one or more of the areas of the positions as described above.

Department of Animal Science (ANIS)
The mission of ANIS is to perform basic, strategic and applied research and innovation within the department’s core activities: nutrition, health and welfare. The activities make up the science-based foundation of ANIS’ teaching, public sector consultancy and collaboration with business and industry. ANIS includes strong research units within immunology and microbiology, molecular nutrition and reproduction, animal nutrition and physiology, animal behaviour and stress biology and epidemiology and management in which areas the core activities take place. The successful applicants will be working in the Section of Molecular Nutrition and Reproduction but will have responsibilities across ANIS.

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
